Placing Your Order

Your order is confirmed once we receive your deposit (normally 50%). By paying the deposit, you agree to these Terms & Conditions.

As all of our blinds, shutters and curtains are made specifically for your order, we won’t begin manufacturing or ordering materials until the deposit has been received.

Our Products & Services

We’ll supply products that:

  • match your order
  • are made with reasonable care and skill
  • are suitable for their intended purpose.

Product photos, brochures and website images are provided as a guide only. Colours, fabrics and finishes may vary slightly from what you see on screen or in print.

If we’re carrying out installation or repair work, we’ll always do so with reasonable care and skill.

Condensation & Mould

Blinds and shutters don’t create condensation or mould, although they may reduce airflow around a window. Condensation is normally caused by humidity, temperature and ventilation within the property.

Condensation can naturally form on windows, especially during colder months or in rooms with higher humidity. Good ventilation and regularly wiping away condensation will help reduce the risk of mould.

Measuring

If we measure your windows, we’re responsible for ensuring the measurements are correct.

If you choose to provide your own measurements, it’s your responsibility to ensure they’re accurate. As your products are made to your exact sizes, we can’t accept returns or replacements due to incorrect measurements supplied by you.

Estimated Lead Times

Any lead times we provide are estimates only. While we’ll always do our best to meet them, delays can occasionally occur due to manufacturing, shipping or circumstances outside our control.

We’ll always keep you informed if this happens.

Natural Characteristics of Fabrics

Fabrics are natural textile products and may contain slight variations in weave, texture, colour or pattern between batches. These are normal characteristics and are not considered defects.

Fabric Width & Joins

Curtains and Roman blinds wider than the standard fabric width (approx. 140cm) will typically include joins. This is standard practice. Joins will be pattern matched and positioned with care and are not considered a defect.  Unless specified, fabric is not guaranteed to be railroaded.

Installation

Our installation price assumes:

  • we can complete the work in one visit
  • there is suitable parking and access
  • the installation area is clear
  • fixing surfaces are suitable
  • there are no hidden hazards such as asbestos.

If unexpected issues arise that require additional time, materials or return visits, we’ll discuss any additional costs with you before carrying out the extra work.

We aren’t responsible for:

  • moving furniture
  • building work
  • existing defects or hidden problems within your property
  • damage caused by unsuitable fixing surfaces
  • warranties you haven’t told us about before installation.

Motorised Products

Motorised products rely on suitable power supplies, batteries or wireless communication. We aren’t responsible for issues caused by changes to your home Wi-Fi, internet connection, smart home system or third-party devices after installation.   Call outs to reconnect blinds to systems, change batteries etc will be chargeable.

Compatibility with third-party smart home systems may change if those systems are updated by their manufacturers after installation.

Child Safety

If you ask us not to fit the required child safety devices, we won’t be able to install the product. As the goods have been made specifically for your order, the order will still remain chargeable.

Warranty

We proudly provide a 3-year warranty on products manufactured by Talbot & Son.

Products made by other manufacturers are covered by their own warranty terms.

Our warranty doesn’t cover:

  • accidental damage
  • misuse
  • water damage
  • fading cased by sunlight
  • normal aging of materials
  • incorrect cleaning
  • normal wear and tear
  • repairs or alterations carried out by anyone else without our approval

Repairs

We’ll always carry out repairs professionally and with care.

However, older products may have worn components or parts that are no longer available. Because of this, we can’t guarantee that repairing one part won’t reveal or lead to another fault developing.

Delivery & Collection

Delivery and installation (where included) are covered by the price shown on your quotation.

If you’re collecting your order, we’ll let you know when it’s ready.

If we’re unable to deliver or install because nobody is available or access isn’t provided, we may need to make a reasonable charge for additional visits, storage or delivery.

Delays

Occasionally delays happen that are outside our control, such as supplier issues or severe weather.

If this happens, we’ll let you know as soon as possible and keep you updated. We won’t be responsible for delays outside our reasonable control, provided we continue to supply your order within a reasonable time.

Prices & Payment

Your quotation shows the full price, including VAT where applicable. Unless otherwise agreed, the remaining balance is due on completion of installation or before collection.

If payment remains outstanding for more than 30 days after invoicing and we can’t agree a payment plan, we may recover reasonable debt recovery and legal costs. We’ll always notify you before any additional charges are applied.

Cancelling Your Order

Because your products are made specifically for you, you can’t cancel simply because you’ve changed your mind once manufacturing has begun.

You may cancel if:

  • we’ve made a significant pricing or description error
  • we’re unable to supply your order within a reasonable time
  • we’re in breach of our obligations to you.

Repair or service-only contracts can normally be cancelled within 14 days unless you’ve asked us to begin the work immediately. If work has already started, you may need to pay for the work completed up to the cancellation date.

If we’re required to refund you, we’ll do so as quickly as possible.

If We Need to Cancel

We may cancel your order if:

  • payments remain unpaid after we’ve reminded you
  • you’re unable to provide access for delivery or installation within a reasonable time
  • an obvious pricing error has occurred.

Where appropriate, we’ll refund any money you’ve already paid.

Ownership

Your goods remain the property of Talbot & Son (Blinds) Ltd until they’ve been paid for in full.

Once payment has been made in full, ownership passes to you.

Complaints

If something isn’t right, please let us know as soon as possible.

You can contact us by phone, email or in writing and we’ll do everything we can to resolve the issue quickly and fairly.

If we’re unable to reach a satisfactory resolution, you may refer the matter to the British Blind & Shutter Association Mediation Service (where appropriate), the Isle of Man Office of Fair Trading, or the Small Claims Court.

Thank you for choosing Talbot & Son (Blinds) Ltd. We appreciate your business and we look forward to helping you enjoy your new blinds, shutters and/or curtains.
